Class Description
Please read ENTIRE description before signing up. In this small group after school class, we will practice drawing and shading realistically. We will work on noticing what shapes make up different objects and use those to draw what we see in front of us. We'll learn about proportions and how to measure with our pencils to draw multiple objects together. We will also work on shading realistically and trying using charcoal as well as pencil. The last day we will also work on drawing faces! Colored pencils will also be available. Free creation time and Pictionary will also be part of the fun. This class is recommended for kids who truly want to learn to draw realistically. Previous experience not required. Schedule: - Breaking objects into simple shapes to draw accurately - Shading basics and practice - Relating objects to get the right proportions in a still life with multiple objects - Use everything we've learned to draw a finished, shaded still life of your choice from life - Face Drawing Practice Please be aware that most students are around the age of 7 to 10 in my classes. Older children/teens are welcome, but they may be the oldest by several years. Signing up with a friend is a great options for older students. Due to extremely limited space, I ask that parents drop their kids off for this class. If you have any specific concerns about leaving, please let me know. You are of course more than welcome to come inside and get them settled. *Absence Policy: One credit of $15 in the form of a discount code for a future GROUP class sign up will be emailed for ONE absence for any reason. Further absences will receive no credit. Please contact Heather directly in case of emergency. Class dates: Every Monday September 18 through October 16. Class minimum of 4 students must be met 48 hours before class begins, or course will be canceled. In this case, refunds will be given to all who have already paid. Class is capped at 8 students. All classes are taught by Heather Brown, artist and former elementary school teacher.
